MultiMedica Holding S.p.A., which operates several hospitals in the Milan area in northern Italy, has ordered Sectra's total solution for handling and archiving of radiology images (PACS).
The MultiMedica Group cooperates closely with the University of Medicine in Milan and performs approximately 150,000 radiology examinations per year at three hospitals and two health centers.
"For a quality healthcare provider like MultiMedica, a system for managing digital medical images represents an indisputable necessity, and Sectra's solution undoubtedly creates quality benefits and enables costs savings," says Dr Daniele Schwarz, CEO of the MultiMedica Group. "What we appreciate with the Sectra solution is how easy it is to use and the system's efficient management of all phases of the radiology workflow," he continues.
According to Dr Schwarz, Sectra's position as a dedicated IT company whose core business is medical IT significantly influenced the decision. "Among the different PACS suppliers in the global market, and particularly in the Italian market, we find Sectra to be an ideal partner thanks to the company's 15 years of experience in the field and for its large number of installations around the world. This serves as a guarantee of its capacity to bring such an ambitious project to
conclusion, where everything from digitalization and archiving to distribution and management of our medical images is included," says Dr Schwarz.
"This is an important order for us in our efforts to penetrate the Italian healthcare market," says Simone Pretti, Managing Director of Sectra in Italy. "MultiMedica is one of Italy's most prominent names in the healthcare sector and we are very honored to have them as a customer. Sectra's goal is, and always has been, to maintain close and long-term cooperation with our customers and we will use our extensive experience of PACS to provide MultiMedica with state-of-the-art technology and customer satisfaction," he continues.
The MultiMedica Group has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare and currently operates three hospitals, two health centers and a scientific and technologic area dedicated to life-science research. It has a total of 508 beds, 13 surgery rooms, an emergency ward and a 3,500 m2 Centre for Laboratory Diagnostics and Pathologic Anatomy. All of their hospitals and one health center are encompassed by an agreement with the Region of Lombardia, which means that every citizen has access to MultiMedica's facilities through subsidies from the national health care system.
