The Swedish IT and medical technology company Sectra has signed a distribution agreement with Scanray, a leading distributor of medical imaging systems covering the French market. Through this alliance, Scanray will serve as a distributor of Sectra's complete system for digital mammography.
France is one of Europe's largest markets for mammography, with a well-organized national screening program that has been in place for two decades. Early detection of breast cancer saves lives and approximately 8 million French women are screened each year.
"Through this cooperation, we are entering the large French mammography market together with a strong and highly reputed partner," says Henrik Mansfeld, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Sectra Mamea AB. "Scanray is a group of experienced distributors covering our target segment within mammography in the French market," he adds.
Today, just a fraction of the mammography systems used in the French market are digital, since only film-based systems are approved for screening conditions. However, it is expected that as of the beginning of next year digital mammography systems will be approved.
"With Sectra's system we are able to offer a world-class digital mammography solution to the French market," says Philippe Miécaze, President of Scanray. "Sectra's mammography system is installed in several European countries and we feel confident with offering a clinically proven and safe system to our customers," he adds.
Sectra's digital mammography system will be presented to the French market at the JFR, the largest radiology exhibition in France, on October 15-19.
Sectra has developed a low-dose digital mammography system, Sectra MicroDose Mammography, dedicated to improve women's health. Sectra´s mammography system is an easy-to-use digital solution that supports the entire workflow, from examination to documented diagnosis.
