The IT and medical technology company Sectra has received an order for Sectra MicroDose Mammography from the Swedish private care-provider Medicinsk Röntgen AB. The system will be used at Vällingby Medical Center, thus being the first clinic in the Stockholm area to offer digital mammography with the lowest radiation dose available on the market.
Medicinsk Röntgen AB conducts radiology operations in outpatient care and is one of the Sectra customers that applies the pay-per-usage model. In total, Medicinsk Röntgen has twelve units performing some 340,000 radiology examinations each year, of which 21, 000 are mammography examinations. All units use Sectra's total solution for managing patient information (RIS) and radiology images (PACS).
"Sectra's mammography system meets our high requirements for efficient workflow, good ergonomics and high image quality with the lowest possible dose," says Dr. Lars Westman, operations manager at the radiology department at Vällingby Medical Center. "With Sectra's mammography system, RIS and PACS, we have a total solution in which the potential in the subsystems can be utilized optimally", he adds.
The use of digital mammography is still low in Scandinavia, but several hospitals are now planning for digital mammography.
"The order from Vällingby Medical Center confirms that our mammography system meets the requirements of the Scandinavian mammography market on safe and efficient solutions," says Marie Ekström, President of Sectra Scandinavia. "Medicinsk Röntgen is a fine example of how our total solutions help our customers to continue to digitize their operations".
