The IT and medical-technology company Sectra has partnered with Siemens Medical Solutions Molecular Imaging Division to integrate its image fusion software, Fusion7D™, into Sectra PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).
By integrating Siemens Fusion7D software, Sectra brings multimodality image fusion advantages directly to the PACS user throughout radiology, oncology and nuclear medicine departments. By providing enterprise-wide access to advanced clinical applications, Sectra expects to further enhance productivity, and workflow in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Fusion7D is an established software solution for multimodal image registration, visualization and analysis. A common use of fusion technology is in providing enhanced analysis of disease by combining functional information present in molecular imaging data with anatomic information best seen in Computed Tomography (CT) or Magnetic Resonance (MR) images. The most widely used example is the combination of FDG-PET images with CT examinations, where the CT can be used to accurately
locate the cancerous activity which is visible in the PET data. Using Fusion7D, the FDG-PET or CT may also be combined with MRI. Similarly, SPECT data may be combined with MRI or CT to provide enhanced analysis in a wide range of diagnostic workflows.
