Region-wide introduction of Sectra PACS

Region Skåne, a large regional public body responsible for health, medical and dental service in the south of Sweden, is now introducing Sectra’s system for processing radiology images (PACS) in the entire region. Accordingly, a further six hospitals will make the transition to the shared solution from Sectra, which is already in operation at two University Hospitals in the region.

By linking the hospitals’ radiology operations together, an efficient flow of images and information is created throughout the region, making the day-to-day work of the radiologist easier and resulting in more efficient and better care.

“We are now taking a further step toward our goal of realizing a region-wide system for the entire imaging and functional medical operations in Skåne,” says Regional Chief Medical Officer Peter Leander. “This will result in more efficient cooperation and utilization of resources.”

The initial agreement between Region Skåne and Sectra was signed in 2008 and covered Malmö University Hospital and Lund University Hospital. Sectra’s image processing system will now be introduced at hospitals in Ystad, Trelleborg, Ängelholm, Kristianstad, Hässleholm and Helsingborg.

More than 900,000 radiology examinations are performed in Region Skåne each year. All of the hospitals in the region already use Sectra’s system for processing radiology information (RIS).
