Norwegian physicians to benefit from region-wide sharing solution from Sectra

The IT and medical-technology company Sectra has signed an agreement with a public Norwegian hospital chain under which Sectra will implement a central sharing solution for all radiology images produced in the most densely populated Norwegian healthcare region.

The hospital chain provides professional care for a region with a population of 1.5 million Norwegians and comprises four hospitals together performing 700,000 radiology examinations annually. Under this agreement, Sectra will connect the image management systems from three different vendors that are in use at the hospitals’ radiology departments.

The solution will be tightly integrated to the enterprise-wide Electronic Patient Record. Accordingly, the referring clinician will be able to access both the radiology report and relevant images regardless of the hospital site in the enterprise that performed the radiology examination. This will support a unified, patient-centric workflow covering the entire healthcare chain and increase collaboration between radiology and referring medical disciplines.

“This order demonstrates our ability to meet the growing demand for solutions that enable efficient sharing of information and images independent of the image management system used,” says Torbjörn Kronander, President of Sectra Imtec AB. “Providing radiology images to referring clinicians across the region regardless of where the images were taken is an important step toward improved patient care”.
