In December 2004, Zentrum für Microdosis-Mammographie München opened its doors to the public, thus giving the women of Munich the opportunity to benefit from the lowest radiation on the market. With the opening, the number of private practices operated by Dr. Risch and his colleagues increases to four. Today, the practice serves approximately 25 women a day. However, with the low-dose concept and the advent of mammography screening in Germany, this number is expected to increase significantly.
"Sectra's system is the key to our low-dose practice. We see both throughput and ergonomic advantages with the new digital system, but the most important is that we will avoid exposing women to higher radiation levels than necessary. This is of great benefit to both the practice and the women in Munich," says Dr. Risch, MD, head of Zentrum für Microdosis-Mammographie München.

An important effect of the new digital technology is the optimized workflow. Before, large archiving areas with endless book shelves were necessary for storing the mammography films and patient journals; today just a few square feet for the accommodation of the entire system are sufficient. With the help of tele-radiology, reports and images can also be transmitted easily to other practices or hospitals.
"We provided our customer with a complete digital mammography system with several advantages for the women being examined. Zentrum für Microdosis-Mammographie München is recognized as a pioneer within advanced technology and this order confirms that our MicroDose system fulfils the high demands of the German market," says Dr Andreas Keizers, President of Sectra GmbH.
