The Hip Module – Template Wizard is a highly efficient tool based on advanced image analysis for effective pre-operative planning of hip replacement surgery. Based on the Bono Digital Templating Algorithm, designed in conjunction with Dr. James Bono, and advanced image analysis, the application can suggest and insert templates using only five landmarks in the image. In addition, the six-click guide also considers leg-length discrepancy.
The pre-operative planning process is easy, fast, precise and cost efficient. An intuitive click guide assists the user through the process.
There are two available algorithms available with the following function:
Inserts a cup and a stem in a position according to the chosen Hip Stem Matching Method. There are two Hip Stem Matching Methods available; Equal Length and Headline.
The Equal Length method ensures that the resulting leg length after the surgery is the same as viewed pre-operatively. The method does so by requiring the default stem head center to be placed on a line orthogonal to the shaft axis and passing through the head center of the cup.
The Headline method places the stem such that the neck angle line intersects the head center of the cup.
Inserts a cup and a stem after repositioning the femur to achieve 0-mm leg-length discrepancy.
After all templates have been placed, they can be moved and changed, with standard commands for these operations. A bigger or smaller size can easily be chosen and the head rotation center of the stem can be changed to place the stem higher or lower in the femoral canal. This means that the leg length will be maintained but the offset will change.
